Key Responsibilities Include the Following:
The incumbent must adhere to the Health and Safety Act, work according to Powertech Transformers quality standards and follow procedures and instructions. Responsible for assembling, straightening and welding core clamps and various parts, which includes tie bars and to mark and prepare parts for drilling. Must be able to read and interpret drawings and be prepared to work shifts and overtime when and if required.

Personal Specification:
Grade 12 or N3, and relevant trade (red seal), +/- 3 years’ experience in a heavy engineering environment.

The incumbent will be responsible for the daily responsibilities in the absence of the Foreman.

Reporting To:

Job Specifications:
Key Responsibilities Include the Following:
Core Clamps and Drilling – Conduct a daily work schedule meeting to communicate maintenance priorities and address satisfactory and/or unsatisfactory performances by employees/artisans. Assist the foreman to plan employee’s tasks on daily basis. Follow up on requested material from stores, suppliers and buying department.
Administration – Completion of time sheets for the hourly paid employees and present them to the relevant foreman for authorisation. Assist the foreman to manage and reduce overtime within the department. Assist the foreman with tool inspections to ensure that all departmental tools and equipment are always in good working order, clean and safe to use.
Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) – Assist the foreman to ensure that SHE standards are maintained within the department. Identify risks and manage SHE on a daily basis and or as required.
Continuous Improvement – Initiate improvement opportunities and implement at departmental level. Support and partake in the implementation of quality objective as per the company and departmental strategy.
Leadership – Apply the Company Industrial Relations policies. Ensure high housekeeping standards at all times. Help the Foreman in the training and development of team members and/or new employees. Support the Powertech Transformers business strategy.

Personal Specification:
Grade 12 or N3.
Approximately 3 years’ experience in a Core Clamps and Drilling environment. Knowledge of radial arm drills. Ability to perform basic maintenance.  Must be physically healthy and be able to work at heights. The incumbent must have basic computer knowledge.

Junior Mechanical Designer x 2

Key Responsibilities Include the Following:
Mechanical design administration – Assist with retrieving, scanning and filing of archive micro filmed designs, as well as assisting with general administrative tasks within the design team, Mechanical Design – Assist with preparation of diagram, rating and information plates and packing lists on CAD design systems, execute design with plan as set out by the Senior Designer, prepare design drawings and elementary layouts on instruction from Senior Designer, verify material types, dimensions, plate thicknesses and standardise descriptions for all Bill of Material items of the layout and assembly drawings, remove unnecessary dimensions on drawings automatically produced by Mechanical Design System (MDS), participate in internal design reviews, assist with documentation of design philosophies, submit customer drawings directly to relevant customers for approval, maintain customer drawing approval register. Nesting for profile cutter – prepare final design files for nesting, process design and prepare nesting files for plasma cutter using CAD systems, determine optimum layout for components on sheet metal in order to reduce scrap. Technical Support – assist production departments resolve specific design related issues and respond to queries from Production, Quality and Commercial departments relating to drawings.

Personnel Specification:
A minimum of Grade 12 or N3 with at least 2 years technical background is required. Knowledge of CAD systems would be advantageous, should be proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and SharePoint.

Description 
Perform tests on transformer oil, cellulose, copper and related transformer manufacturing products.

Job Specifications:
Key Responsibilities Include the Following:
Perform transformer oil tests; calibration of oil testing instruments; issue test reports; co-ordinate sub-contracting of certain tests; uphold quality system in the laboratory.
 
Personal Specification:
Grade 12, National Diploma Analytical Chemistry - S4; experience in a transformer oil testing laboratory and a transformer material testing laboratory would be advantageous. The candidate should be meticulous; able to work without supervision whilst being a team player; career orientated; willing to multi-skill in the laboratory; ability to liaise with customers in a positive relationship-building manner and operate actively in contributing to the Esprit-de-Corp of the Laboratory and Company.
Be fluent in English reading, writing and speech; have a valid code EB driver’s license; must be willing and able to work outside office hours; undertake compulsory stand-by duty when required; be physically healthy and have the ability to lift masses of up to 20kg as well as able to work in elevated areas and confined spaces.
Have positive attitude towards “change” to keep up with the latest technology and with customer needs; ability to work in a disciplined and tidy manner; have ideally a 20/20 vision due to the kind of instruments used; nor suffer from allergies or be sensitive to transformer oil and/or chemicals used in the laboratory.

Operations Planner

Key Responsibilities Include the Following:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the Bills of Material from designs completed by  Mechanical Design are planned and routed correctly to the relevant production workstations; that the planning process is executed within the committed timeframe and also ensure that all production documentation is prepared and issued to the correct workstations timeously. He/she will ensure that planning issues are resolved within the shortest possible timeframe with the lowest cost implication to the business as well as ensure skills development of fellow employees.

Personnel Specification:
A Grade 12 qualification with technical background is required. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to use a computer and be proficient in MS Word and MS Excel (should demonstrate ability to compile reports and simple spread sheets with basic formulas). SAP experience is a requirement. The candidate must be able to execute tasks accurately, timeously and correctly in a high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for all administration within the training department which includes but is not limited to: Booking and overall co-ordination of internal and external courses; compiling of various reports for external and internal use; consolidation of information from the Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria sites; submission of training and other  reports on a monthly basis. He/she will manage the skills development function which includes: preparation, administration and submission of all MERSETA grants for the Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria sites as well as management of the internal training assistance schemes.

Personal Specification:
Grade 12 and studying towards a recognised HR related qualification
Minimum of 3 – 5 years training co-ordination & administration experience
Skill Development Facilitator (SDF) certification will be an advantage
Experience in Unique & SAP HR Systems is essential
MS Office package as well as MS Outlook is required
Excellent communication skills (ability to communicate at all levels)
